There are some things in life that money can’t buy
More sales is great. Building a better culture is terrific. Creating leadership and managers who can lead effectively through difficult times is certainly what every organization needs.
But in addition to those deliverables at your next conference what if you could give your people the secret to peace on Earth and give them “doable by them” tactics to make it happen immediately?
Here is the best news of all… this presentation is free (you’ll need to make all the logistical/tech arrangements) with no strings attached.
Because (you and) I can’t and shouldn’t put a price tag on making the world more peaceful. It’s much too important and much too urgent to do that. And you can’t buy this mission or me, if I give it to you for free.
Why am I offering it and offering it now?
Because I am not getting any younger and as Robert Frost said, I have “promises to keep, and (not so many) miles to go before I sleep.“
And to borrow and twist an iconic meme from the movie Network, “I’m sad as hell and I can’t take it anymore.”
I was walking to my office a couple months ago and I passed two buff, bare chested, mask wearing, inebriated surfer dudes who were each in front of their homes bantering to each other.
When I passed the first one, he yelled out, “Hark yee, pray tell us the secret to peace on Earth for yee to pass!”
I kept walking and they went back to their drunken banter. But they didn’t know that I had trained FBI and police hostage negotiators and frequently appear in the media as an expert, so I’m pretty quick on my feet.
When I got in front of the second surfer dude, I turned to both of them and yelled back, “Hark yee.” By that time, they had forgotten what they asked me, and I repeated, “Hark yee, I know what the secret to peace on Earth is!”
They continued to look at me dumbfounded and I repeated, “The secret to peace on Earth is to listen more than you talk.”
At that point they looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and said, “Yee, may pass.”
Still not convinced?
Now, if you don’t think that is the secret to peace on Earth I’ll show you how it’s the secret to peace in your life.
Imagine in your mind’s eye asking someone who cares about and believes in you and wants the best for you, “What would be the positive impact on my success, happiness and our relationship if I became a better listener? Small, moderate, large?” When I do that with people, most respond that that person would say moderate.
Now imagine asking them this question, “What has already been the negative impact on my success, happiness and our relationship when I have been at my absolute worst as a listener? What would they say, Small, moderate, large?” And when I do that and they respond by email or in a Zoom call, they write that the other person would say LARGE. And they write it in capital fonts.
I rest my case.
Now I could tell you how to make that happen and deliver on that secret…
But it’s a secret and you’re going to have to hire me.
