Wouldn’t You Agree? #7

Q: Why does familiarity breed contempt?

A: The more familiar you feel you are to someone or you (erroneously) believe someone is to you, the more liberty you take with your expectations of them and the less forgiving you are when they don’t meet them.

Except when familiarity breeds respect and keeping one’s side of the street clean. Easier said than done perhaps, but still we are often close to people we do not abuse.

Agreed, so, for someone who has a healthy sense of self, shouldn’t they be more forgiving of a familiar friend or family member who fails, or failed, to meet one’s expectations? Just curious…keep up the great work!
