Q: What is one of the best ways to tell if you are dealing with a manipulative and toxic person?
A: After they have finished trying to convince or “sell” you on what they want you to do or buy, pause and resply: “You are very clear and I understand what you are saying, but I’m having trouble believing or trusting you.” The toxic person having been caught in pushing their agenda on you (as opposed to truly being of service to you) will go ballistic and launch a counterattack. A non-toxic person will accept that what you said is based on their not being clear or being confusing and will inquire what you heard that caused you to feel you can’t trust or believe them.
