If you agree with that and you not only want to stand tall but go far beyond, here is an opportunity for true greatness. And to see it, all you have to do is watch the following:
Forget about waiting for politicians. How can we get people with excess (including you and me and our children) to care enough to do something to help people with less and especially those with close to nothing?
One step is to have all parents and school children from grades 4 through 12 in private schools have an evening meeting at your schools and show the above segment from 60 Minutes. Then have a discussion and more than that a call to action.
And besides doing what’s right, here are some other great perks. It will make your families happier, communities healthier and even motivate your children to study more. In fact, why not have them go a step further and teach/tutor and maybe even give some cereal and cookies to kids like the ones in this segment that they can share with their families.
I don’t think “noblesse oblige,” I think “noblesse” absolutely requires us to help those who are hurting in our communities.
Doing this will also increase your very important to you, school rankings… maybe not in the NAIS‘ (National Association of Independent Schools) book, but certainly in God’s book.
