Usable Insight – Website Superglue: From Sizzle to Sticky to Viral
“A website is a terrible thing to waste”
From Sizzle to Sticky to Viral:
Create Website Superglue by Creating Content that Grabs, Holds and Spreads
Does your content have “The Right Stuff” to grab, hold and spread?
Watch the video above to discover the process and how to get “buy in” from people. One of the concepts that the above video takes advantage of and that you might want to be mindful of is “Mental Real Estate.” This was first explained to me by my good friend and Disney uberimagineer, Tony Baxter. As Tony explained it: “When you can hook onto something that already has an emotional association on it in people’s minds and then repurpose or tweak it, you expand your ‘mental real estate’ and increase your traction in people’s minds. That is why ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ owns the word ‘pirates’ (a pretty sexy word when I was growing up) in the minds of children.”
In the video above there is a story of a famous logo that you see everyday and that you think you know. But when I point out something you may not have been aware of, it expands the ‘mental real estate’ that logo has in your mind. Essentially this triggers “Whoa” in your mind. A “whoa” results in seeing something you thought you knew, but didn’t. That causes you to go from seeing, thinking and believing something to re-seeing it, re-thinking it and to being open to believing something different. This activates the part of the mind that so delights in novelty and irony that you want to share it with others. And that is what we call “going viral.”

Wonderful read! I have one advice for your site. It looks like there are a few style sheet troubles when opening several webpages in google chrome and firefox. It is functioning fine in internet explorer. Probably you can double check that. I have just added this document on reddit.com to get a few more visitors to your web-site.

To all the above commentors. Blogs can be much better to read if You can keep Your comments simple and to the point. No-one likes to read giant comments when the concept can be conveyed using a not as long comment.
