Sometimes when you can’t get to the mountain, the mountain comes to you. Today, the American Veterans Traveling Tribute and Operation Gratitude brought The Wall to Van Nuys, CA so we could pay our respects.

Paul and I went to Meadowbrook Junior High School and Newton South High School in Newton, MA and had many a snowball fight on the hills of the Charles River Country Club.

Cpl Evan Ashcraft - Iraq - 24-Jul-03

Evan was the son of my good friend Jane Bright who told me how her hurt and anger threatened to rip her apart until she kept remembering his last letters home that said: “When I get home from Iraq, all I want to do is help people.” Because of that, she and her husband Jim founded The Evan Ashcraft Foundation.
