About Dr. Goulston
Need to get through to someone today? Try listening
Mark is an articulate intuitive. He knows that what people at every level of a company or organization don’t say often determines their behavior more than what they do say. More importantly, he directly addresses this elephant in the room in a non-threatening way that opens the road to change, growth and profitability.
- Warren Bennis, Chairman of The Leadership Institute at USC
How many conversations today will you try to get through to: customers, clients, employees, colleagues, bosses, directors, managers, vendors not to mention spouses, children, parents, friends and of course yourself?
Probably a more appropriate question would be, how many conversations will you have today where you are not trying to get through to someone? The answer. Probably few.
And after you get through, what next? How often do they change what they’re doing in a positive direction for both them and you? What would be the effect on your and their productivity if they did?
The secret to this is not what you tell people. It’s what you enable them to tell you that is critically important to them, that you listen to and care about, and then help them with.
